Suthwyk Ales - Palmerston's Folly

(Code: BLSPF)
£ 3.00
(Sold in packs of 12)
Clear, wheaty beer, dry wih a slightly sweet, honey edge.
Named after the Portsdown Hill Forts built whilst Lord Palmerston was Prime Minister, these were very costly and never used to defend the country. The guns point inland to defend Portsmouth Harbour in case of an invasion starting further up the coast, this was thought to be a mistake by uninformed locals and the forts quickly gained the name Palmerston's folly.
